Work has been going on behind the scenes for some time now in designing the hall extension.
This was originally envisioned as a "Cricket Pavilion" when the hall was first built but somehow never came to pass. We first started talking in earnest about the new design about five years ago, it has taken this long to start to put meat on the bones of those plans.
The key players in the new design are: Great Notley Football club, they need boys and girls changing rooms. Parish Council, they want a place to call home. Scouts need more room for storage and activities. Ducklings pre-school need more room to expand.
The community Association areas custodians of the hall owns the project and is managing it on behalf of the bodies mentioned above.
The extension will add significant space to the main hall with and extra 82 square metres (approx) being added to the floor space.
This will be separated from the existing hall by folding doors giving us the option of two smaller or one large room.
The extension will be a two storey construction with a large room upstairs for groups and clubs to hire out. An additional kitchen and storage is being provided for clubs and associations to pack away all of their equipment. The area between the two smaller rooms will be filled in with an extension to the room used by the pre-school and a new admin office.
The internal layout of the new build can be seen here: The external plans can be seen here:
Outside we plan to replace the containers with a purpose built storage building with ample space for the football club and Scouts to store their valuable equipment.
The plans for the storage building can be seen here:
We are now in the process of applying for planning permission with the hope that construction will start in early 2012.
Plans are on show in the main lobby of the hall, please come along and have a look.
